Taste your way around Scotland's food and drink produce at Turriff Show
Visitors to this year’s Turriff Show will have the chance to sample some of Scotland’s finest food and drink, as over 50 businesses will be represented in the ever-popular EQ Food and Drink Marquee. Local producers, and those from further afield, will be selling their wares alongside an impressive line-up of live cooking and butchery demonstrations on 2 and 3 August 2026.
Sponsored by EQ Chartered Accountants, the marquee has become one of the show’s most popular attractions, as more than 24,000 visitors come from near and far to meet producers, sample a taste, or tipple, of local delicacies and shop directly from businesses from the north-east and wider Scotland.
Sarah Mackie, Food and Drink Co-ordinator says: “Having organised the EQ Food and Drink Marquee for many years now, I know how much it is loved by visitors, it really is one of the best places to discover what incredibly high-quality produce and innovative food and drinks we have on our doorstep. We have an abundance of food and drink producers in Aberdeenshire, and it’s very special to bring many of them together at the Show."
Returning for 2026 are Ellon Spirits, Wark Farm Pies, Castleton Fruits, The Damn Fine Cheese Company, Glenkindie Pantry, alongside some exciting new additions - Miss V Cooks Traditional Scottish Tablet, Wee Knob of Butter, Jinger Drinks, and last year’s main show sponsor, Balmaud Distillery, who launched their first gin in 2025 and are on track to release their first whisky in 2028.
Wilson Strachan of Balmaud Distillery also farms just outside Turriff, he says:
“This year will mark one year since we supported the show as main sponsor, which gave us the perfect platform to launch our gin – particularly at an event that means so much to us as local farmers. We’re looking forward to introducing even more people to our range, at a show that celebrates the best food, drink and agriculture the north east has to offer, and we’re proud to be part of it.”
Among this year’s longstanding exhibitors is Louise Urquhart of Louise’s Farm Kitchen:
“I’ll be bringing a range of our farm produced burgers, steaks, maple and espresso cured bacon, and our firm customer favourites, our pork sausages, which are usually a sell-out at Turriff.
“All our meat is reared and prepared on our home farm at Aboyne, just an hour from Turriff – guaranteeing a farm to fork experience that's been produced local to you."
Sarah Mackie adds: "Within the EQ Food and Drink marquee, showgoers have an incredible programme of live cooking and butchery demonstrations to watch in the QMS Cookery Theatre, sponsored by Quality Meat Scotland, this feast of locally sourced ingredients is used to create delicious recipes, all of which you can recreate at home.”
The highlights include:
- Cooking demonstrations from Craig Wilson, The Kilted Chef
- Lauren Houston of Glenkilrie Larder, presenting From Land to Larder, will be showcasing local venison
- Butchery demonstrations from Luke Burnett, Marshall’s Farm Shop
- A cooking demonstration from Seedpod Chef, Eddie McDonald
- Family-friendly cooking sessions from Garioch Community Kitchen
- Interactive cooking demonstrations with Catriona Frankitti, focusing on balanced breakfasts, local ingredients and tasty samples from Turriff traders
Lauren Houstoun of Glenkilrie Larder who has never missed a Turriff Show, adds:
“On the Sunday afternoon in the QMS Cookery Theatre I’ll be demonstrating with our very own venison. The dish will showcase that venison can be used for any meal of the day, including breakfast. It will be a meal anyone can cook, proving just how simple and versatile venison is to cook with and eat.”
This year, long standing committee member Gill Gaul, will take over as convenor of the EQ Food and Drink Marquee, taking over from Rachel Sharp, as she moves into her role as Junior Vice President of the Show, before becoming the President in 2028.
“A huge thank you to Rachel for your incredible teamwork over the years, to Gill for taking over the reins, and to Judith Taylor for your huge support in developing the marquee into one of the biggest highlights of the show,” adds Sarah.
The Kastille Food and Drink Company will once again provide the show’s main catering, as well as the beer tent and the cider and prosecco bar, where all visitors are welcome to attend to enjoy a variety of hot and cold meal options.
