Jane Craigie

Jane is an experienced communicator with 30 years' experience managing in-house teams and running JCM – a specialist communications agency specialising in land, food and agriculture. She is creative, strategic, and a respected confidante for people and businesses undergoing challenges and change. 

Jane is known for her strong network both in the UK and globally. She founded JCM in 2003, her vision was to develop an agency built on storytelling and a team of people with a love for and extensive rural experience, also people with deep integrity and kindness. 

In 2018, Jane launched the Rural Youth Project, alongside her business partner, Rebecca Dawes.  A grassroots movement established to empower rural young people (18 to 28 years of age) to develop their leadership, enterprise and activism skills. The project has supported hundreds of young people. 

Jane’s pro-bono and industry roles have included Chair of the British Guild of Agricultural Journalists (BGAJ), board member of SRUC, Lantra and Ringlink Scotland. Jane is Chair of the Global Federation of Agricultural Journalists and immediate past UK executive of the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists. 

Jane was awarded the BGAJ’s 2024 Netherthorpe Communicator of the Year award, the IFAJ’s 2023 Digital Content Award and the BGAJ’s inaugural 2024 Podcast of the Year Award. 

Jane’s in-house roles were with Genus plc, American Cyanamid, Diversey and specialist agrifood digital business DBT Ltd (now part of Proagrica). 

Jane is a graduate of agriculture (BSc Hons) and horticulture (HND) and marketing (post-grad CIM), a member of CIPR, she is a fellow of RSA, CIM and BGAJ, FRAgs awardee (Council of Fellows of Royal Agricultural Societies), a graduate of the Institute of Agricultural Management’s Leadership Development, the Windsor Leadership Trust’s Emerging Leaders and Scottish Enterprise’s Rural Leadership Programmes. She has worked in practical farming in the UK and Australia.
